Dr. Rachel Moskowitz

Dr. Rachel Moskowitz joined the Haywood Road family in 2020. Originally from Simsbury, Connecticut, she was an avid equestrian growing up and spent most of her free time at the barn riding and taking care of horses. She chose to stay close to home and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Anthropology from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. At first convinced she was going to pursue a career in equine veterinary medicine, she ultimately realized that small animal medicine was her true passion. Dr. Moskowitz received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in Grafton, Massachusetts in 2015. Upon graduation, she was declared the top student of her class and received the Tufts University Veterinary Academic Achievement Award.

After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Moskowitz spent a few months in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. There she volunteered at Southern Pines Spay & Neuter Clinic where she performed numerous spay and neuter procedures on canine and feline patients and worked with a local shelter to reduce the feral cat population in the area. She then moved to Greenville, South Carolina to pursue a career in general practice veterinary medicine and has greatly enjoyed her time here in this beautiful and welcoming community. Dr. Moskowitz enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, but has a passion for diagnostic imaging, surgery, preventative medicine and nutrition. She completed the NAVC Pet Nutrition Coach Certification in 2020 to better educate clients about the best diet choices to promote long, healthy lives for their pets. She understands that pets are family and treats each of her patients as if they were her own. She attends the Veterinary Meeting & Expo (VMX) Conference every two years to advance her education on the latest veterinary technology and medical recommendations so that she can provide the highest quality of care for her patients. Dr. Moskowitz is also a current and active member of the Greater Greenville Veterinary Medical Association (GGVMA), South Carolina Veterinary Medical Association (SCVMA), and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).

When she’s not busy cuddling puppies or saving pets’ lives, Dr. Moskowitz loves horseback riding, photography, hiking, puzzles, and spending quality time with her family. She is so lucky to have her husband, Jeremy, by her side supporting her in all of her endeavors, as well as her two young sons and adorable Shiba Inu dog named Sasha. Dr. Moskowitz is thrilled to be a part of the Haywood Road family and looks forward to meeting you and your beloved pets!

Dr. Adele Hilliard

Dr. Adele Hilliard originally hails from ‘across the pond’ in Leicestershire, England. She moved to South Carolina at the age of 11 and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal and Veterinary Sciences from Clemson University. After completing her undergraduate studies Dr. Hilliard received her veterinary degree from the University of Georgia in 2014. Prior to, and during her time at Clemson and Georgia, Dr. Hilliard was highly involved in shelter medicine (both in the United States and England). She spent numerous hours at various adoption agencies working closely with animals and educating the public, in addition to coordinating all Shelter Medicine Surgery Activities with the veterinary students at Georgia. In addition to shelter medicine, Dr. Hilliard pursued other interests including preventative medicine, nutrition and behavior, and was involved in many organizations such as Vets for Pets and People (an organization aiding abused women) and Christian Veterinary Fellowship.

After graduation, Dr. Hilliard moved out west, and worked in both Wyoming and Colorado, serving the surrounding communities with both general and low cost veterinary medicine. In 2016, after the birth of their first daughter, Dr. Hilliard and her family moved back to Greenville to be closer to family.

Although Dr. Hilliard loves many components of veterinary medicine, one of her favorite aspects is talking to the public and helping to educate them about their pets. She highly values her one on one interaction with clients. She is also extremely interested in behavior and helping dogs and cats to be at their happiest in their homes. She is fear free certified and strives to provide a stress free environment for all of her patients.

Dr. Hilliard is extremely blessed to have an amazing husband, Austin, and two wonderful daughters, Adelaide and Avalene. The family has a crazy goofball one-eyed dog named Koda, who likes “helping” around the house; he especially loves to keep the clean clothes warm by lying on top of them. The Hilliards spends much of their time running around after their two girls and Mr. Koda, in addition to exploring the nearby mountains, searching for forest and mountain trolls. In addition, Dr. Hilliard and her family love travelling and aim to get back to England every year. Dr. Hilliard also greatly enjoys baking, interior design, and trying new cuisines.

Dr. Amanda Shoemake

Dr. Amanda Shoemake received both her bachelor’s degree and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University.

Originally from Memphis, TN, Dr. Shoemake began working in the Veterinary field at the age of 13. She knew right away that she would do this for the rest of her life. Once leaving Alabama, Dr. Shoemake then spent time living in Las Vegas and again Tennessee. She has years of experience in general practice, but also has experience in emergency medicine and surgery.

Dr. Shoemake immensely enjoys the medicine and science of Veterinary medicine, as well as interacting with pet parents and staff to better the lives of her patients. She has professional interests in dentistry, as well as preventative medicine.

Dr. Shoemake and her family live in western North Carolina, near Asheville. She loves to hike and explore the surrounding areas. She really enjoys spending time in Greenville and specifically enjoys the many tastes that the area has to offer.
